Join Nina Reis and Dina Abbondante, LMT for a specialized workshop and yoga practice devoted to releasing long-standing tension, muscular imbalances and acute pain in the body. If you're experiencing muscular/connective tissue tension, limited range of motion or are working with an injury, this workshop will move you towards balance. We will focus on alleviating discomfort and restoring a more flexible, functional body for your yoga practice. We will provide you with take-home techniques such as myofascial release, acupressure points, therapeutic stretching and basic principles of injury care to balance your mind, body and spirit.
Expect to work therapeutically with:
- Tennis balls for myofascial release
- Acupressure points to relieve acute symptoms
- Principles for healing acute injuries and how to avoid them
- Beneficial practices for the Spring season and how to support your immune and nervous system function
Throughout the workshop, we will incorporate both lecture and physical practice. This workshop is not intended to diagnose chronic injuries or disease related conditions or replace the medical care given by your doctor. Prior yoga experience will be helpful, but is not required, as all levels of practitioners are welcome to attend. Students should be able to recline on their back, side and belly comfortably.
Students need to bring:
- Two tennis balls
- One small hand towel
- A pen/pencil
- An extra layer or two to keep warm
