Nina’s approach to acupuncture
Nina trained in three styles of acupuncture: Chinese, orthopedic and Japanese. For those who are needle sensitive, Nina strives for relaxing treatments that use extremely fine needles. She also draws upon non insertive techniques like magnets with ion pumping cords, moxibustion and cupping. For those looking for more robust treatments, rest assured, Nina is competent in orthopedic and electro acupuncture treatments as well. She often uses adjunctive techniques in combination with acupuncture needles.
Acupuncture is just one of eight branches in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM traces its roots to China more than 2,500 years ago as a medicinal path to balance the body's energy, or Qi. Despite its ancient origins, this practice has evolved to gain recognition in modern science as evidence-based medicine. The comprehensive nature of treating mind, body and spirit is what makes TCM so powerful. As such, the medicine is based on symptomatic patterns seen in the whole person (rather than Western disease nomenclature). Unique treatments are created for each individual enabling a patient centered model of care.
